Islay Sayles passed away peacefully on 28th October.  After 31 years living in Shepshed, in May this year she moved to a care home in Oxford, as she was finding it hard to manage at home, even with the support of the live-in carers from Consultus, who have enabled her to remain independent over the last three years.  Oxford is her daughter Anne’s home and she has been able to visit very regularly.  Both her sons, Alan and Alastair, were able to visit her recently too.

We are sad that our mum is no longer with us, but we are grateful for all that she has been to us throughout our lives, and we would like to celebrate and give thanks for her life with family and friends.  Thank you for being part of that long life too.  Being part of the St Botolph’s family was important to her and as a family we are grateful for the support, friendship and kindness which was shown to her by her friends at the church.

The funeral will be held in Oxford on Friday 26th November at 2.30pm.  It will be in the Memorial Chapel at Oxford Crematorium OX3 9RZ.  No flowers please, and our mum wished for any donations in her memory to be made to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, an organisation she supported throughout her life.  The service will be available to watch online and for 28 days afterwards – please contact Anne if you would like the login details.
